For those unfamiliar with the University of Tokyo, it is widely regarded as one of the top universities in Asia and in order to get it, well basically you’d have to be smart enough to do so, which according to the student in an interview with Japanese TV show Viking! he claims that Pokemon had a hand in helping him achieve that.
Basically he claims that playing Pokemon is a bit like playing chess, something which many in the Pokemon community can relate to. The student claims, “Because of playing this game, I developed my logical thinking skills and, perhaps, that was beneficial for even getting into this university.”
Granted there are some controversial stances in video games and violence, but if you wanted proof that maybe it wasn’t all bad, this is a good example. In fact recently Microsoft’s Minecraft made headlines as a tool that teachers could use to teach their students with, so why not Pokemon too, right?
