Pebble’s new smartwatch was launched a couple of months back following a rather successful Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign which showed that the company still has a fan following among people willing to strap a smartwatch to their wrist even when the likes of Apple and Samsung have jumped into the market. The metal version of this smartwatch, called Pebble Time Steel, is finally going to start shipping to customers from next week.
There is a little caveat though, Pebble mentions delivery delays for customers who ordered a steel band with their smartwatch. Pebble originally wanted to ship the steel band and smartwatch in a single package but it has faced manufacturing delays with the band.
Pebble will now have to ship the two items separately just so it can at least get the smartwatch in customers’ hands. It appears that metal bands won’t be shipped until at least September.
Customers won’t have to bear the burden of the extra shipment since Pebble will absorb those shipping costs and once manufacturing delays are tackled it will start packaging both items in a single package.
Pebble Time Steel comes with a leather strap in the box anyway so customers can put it on their wrist right away, it’s not like they’ll have to wait until September to get some use out of this product. Customers should expect to receive shipping information for their packages by the first week of August.
