Granted we have heard how Spotify uses are claiming to be leaving Spotify for Apple Music, but as far as Pandora is concerned, it seems that there has not been much of an impact felt just yet. During a recent earnings conference call, Pandora was asked about how Apple Music might have impacted their service.
According to the company’s CEO Brian McAndrews, he doesn’t believe that there has been any. “In terms of Apple Music, of course it launched at the end of June, so there was no impact yet. Going forward, we feel really good about our trajectory and competitive position. With any big launch like this and the noise in the marketplace, there could be some users that experiment with it and there could be some short term impact… But we don’t believe that there will be any long-term impact.”
In fact according to Pandora’s recent earnings, the company managed to rake in $285.6 million which was more than what analysts had initially predicted, although admittedly the company did suffer a $16.1 million loss overall. However as McAndrews points out, it might be too early to tell if Apple Music will have a lasting impression, but in the meantime what do you guys think?
