Just the other day we reported that thanks to leaked specs and photos, details of Panasonic’s upcoming Lumix GX8 was revealed. As it turns out we didn’t have to wait too long for the official confirmation as Panasonic has since officially announced not only the Lumix GX8 but the Lumix Z330 cameras as well.
Starting with the Lumix GX8, the rumors were right on the money with the specs. The camera is an upgraded version of the Lumix GX7 which was launched in 2013. The camera will come with an upgraded Venus engine and will feature a dual image stabilization system in both the lens and body. There will also be a five-axis hybrid optical image stabilization for video recording, in which the camera is also capable of capturing in 4K resolution.
The GX8 will sport a 20.3MP sensor and will also come with a 0.77x viewfinder and can tilt as much as 90-degrees. It also features a touch display that can be tilted up to 180-degrees side to side, and 250-degrees vertically. For photographers who appreciate the convenience of wireless transfers, the GX8 will support WiFi, Bluetooth, and NFC connectivity.
As for the Lumix Z330, this is a fixed lens camera with a 25-600mm lens and an aperture of f/2.8 which is pretty decent for such a long zoom. It will pack a 12.1MP sensor under the hood, although sadly its ISO range tops out at 6400. It will be powered by the same Venus engine as the GX8 which is good, and it is also capable of recording 4K video. WiFi connectivity is also a feature of the Lumix Z330.
The Lumix GX8 is priced at $1,200 and is expected to be released in August, while the FZ330 is priced at $600 and will be released in October.
