Ever wanted a 3D figurine of yourself? Maybe you’ve got a really snazzy outfit that you’d like to capture for all of eternity and photos just aren’t cutting it. If that sounds like a great idea, you might be interested to learn that in the Panasonic Center in Osaka, they have installed a photo booth that helps create 3D figurines of you.
How does this work? Basically you step into a booth and thanks to 120 Panasonic Lumix GH4 cameras positioned all around you, it will be able to capture pretty much almost every angle of your body, thus resulting in enough information to create a pretty damn accurate 3D figurine of yourself.
Of course figurines made of yourself isn’t new, but like we said the placement of the cameras lets the system capture more details of you, and the more details the system has, the better the end result will be. The end result is a 1/10th life-size plaster figurine that will look more or less like you, or at least that’s the goal.
Of course this won’t come cheap as each figurine is expected to cost 55,000 yen which is about $450 converted, but it would make for a pretty awesome souvenir, don’t you think? So, anyone willing to drop that amount of cash for a 3D printed figurine of themselves?
