Apple only used to provide beta software to registered developers previously but it broke this tradition last year by launching a public beta program for Mac owners. It started seeding preview builds to registered public members who were interested in taking part in the beta testing process. Apple is running the same program this time around as well for OS X’s new version titled El Capitan, the first beta of which is out today.
OS X El Capitan was unveiled last month at the Worldwide Developers Conference 2015, as usual the company walked us through all of the different features and improvements that have been added and made to this new version of OS X.
The latest Mac update brings various new features such as split-view for fullscreen applications, better multitasking, pinned tabs in Safari, public transit information in Apple Maps and much, much more.
Those who are interested in trying out El Capitan first beta on their Macs can head on over to Apple’s website for beta software and register.
It would be a good idea to backup all of your OS X system before jumping on the beta builds to ensure that you can go back to the way things were if the need arises to downgrade your system.
OS X El Capitan will be released to the public this fall.
