The subscription-based model seems to be “in” these days, you can subscribe to newspapers, magazines, music streaming services, online video streaming services, internet TV and much more. You might keep adding on one subscription after the other because all of them cost around $10 but add them all up and you’re spending quite a bit of money every month. A new online tool has been created to let you know exactly how much you’re spending every month on these “mini-subscriptions.”
Mini-subscriptions are attractive for people because there are no long term commitments, you can choose to pay by the month and stop when you no longer have need for the service.
That’s usually what compels many of us to try out a new service that just costs around $10, but when we add up all of these numbers it’s a fair amount of money going out of our pockets.
TV fans can choose to go with Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video and even Sling TV as opposed a conventional cable subscription and while these are cheaper alternatives combined they do cost a fair bit.
Then there’s music streaming, cloud storage, sports, online gaming and many others, you can see where I’m going with this. The Wall Street Journal has created an online tool to help you make sense of it all, and I found that my subscriptions to five different services cost me $62.18 per month or $746.16 per year.
Go here to use the tool and calculate how much you’re spending on all of these different services every month.
