The folks at PhoneArena are reporting that OnePlus has a OnePlus Lite handset in the works. The model apparently goes by the model number A2001 which you might recall was part of a recent benchmark that showed an alleged throttled CPU, leading us to initially believe that this was how OnePlus was planning on curtailing the heat issues of the Snapdragon 810.
However if the new report is true, the A2001 is actually for a slightly less powerful handset in the form of the OnePlus Lite. Its specs also includes a 1920×1080 Full HD display and will come with 3GB of RAM instead of 4GB in the OnePlus 2. Of course this doesn’t diminish the fact that despite these “lowered” specs, it is still a pretty powerful handset.
There’s no way of knowing if the OnePlus Lite will launch alongside the OnePlus 2, but like we said we’re only a couple of hours away from the event kicking off, so we should know everything by then.
