It was a couple of days ago since the OnePlus 2 was officially announced, but just like the original OnePlus One, the OnePlus 2 will be relying on an invite system where customers need to be invited to buy the phone. This isn’t so much to do with creating a sense of exclusivity, but rather to manage inventory.
Basically when you get an invite, you more or less know that there is stock available, versus other systems where your order could take a couple of months to be fulfilled. That being said, the OnePlus 2 does pack some pretty cool specs and features, not to mention its price tag makes it a pretty compelling purchase.
So much so that it doesn’t come as a surprise to learn that the current invite reservation list has crossed the 800,000 mark. This number was reached only in a couple of days showing just how many people are actually interested in the handset. Of course whether or not all those 800,000 reservations turn to actual sales remains to be seen.
So if you haven’t registered your interest already, you probably should. The OnePlus 2 is expected to go on sale in the US, China, Canada, India, and Europe come 11th of August, but given the number of reservations, you could be waiting a while before it is your turn, but better late than never, right?
