OnePlus is going to formally unveil its new handset later this month but every other day we get to hear something new about the device, that’s usually what the company does in order to create hype for its device. After having revealed what processor it’s going to have and how capable its camera is, we now hear that it’s possible for the OnePlus 2 to have dual-SIM support.
The information comes from OnePlus CEO Liu Zuohu himself who revealed that OnePlus 2 will have dual-SIM support on Weibo which is China’s equivalent of Twitter.
This might be an interesting addition to the handset which may also fix a pain point that many customers expressed with the first OnePlus handset: it didn’t have a microSD card slot.
Many dual-SIM handsets currently available have technology that allows the second SIM slot to be used for another line or double as a microSD card slot.
It will be a win-win situation, users in markets where dual-SIM smartphones don’t do well get a microSD card slot whereas those that want to use both SIMs simultaneously will get to do that as well, albeit at the cost of expandable storage.
OnePlus 2 is going to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor with 4GB RAM and will also have a 13 megapixel rear camera with laser autofocus, fingerprint scanner, a 3,300mAh battery as well as a USB Type-C port.
