However by that did the company mean they were going to throttle the CPU’s speeds? Given that the handset has yet to be officially launched, we wouldn’t know, but thanks to a recent benchmark that surfaced, it certainly seems to be the case. According to a recent benchmark, it seems that the CPU speeds of the OnePlus 2 have been throttled.
This results in a phone which isn’t much more powerful than its predecessor, which is a shame because overheating issues aside, the Snapdragon 810 is a chipset not to be trifled with. Of course it could be benchmarks based on a prototype of the phone and the end result could be different, but at the same time, throttling it so that it won’t work as hard is a way to deal with overheating.
Previously OnePlus revealed that they were working on making some physical improvements to prevent overheating as well, such as using thermal gel and graphite placed strategically inside the phone to deal with it. In any case we expect more details to be revealed come 27th of July, so check back with us then for the official announcement.
