Netflix has slowly been improving the user experience on the various platforms that it supports, not too long ago the company rolled out new mobile applications that came with a new look and feel. Recently Netflix overhauled its user interface on the web to make content discovery much easier. Now it’s giving the same treatment to its TV app which hasn’t received a major update since late 2013.
Now when users select a title on the Netflix TV app it will start or resume playing while displaying important information about the title to help users confirm their choice.
The company says that this way it’s “letting the content speak for itself” by providing a better cinematic experience that’s more immersive and adequately represents the “capabilities and expectations of today’s TVs.”
Video is a great medium for storytelling and Netflix says that bringing video playback into the content selection experience is going to make it much easier for users to find something great to watch.
Netflix is rolling out this update for its smart TV app globally today, over the next few days it will be available on supported devices across the globe. The company promises that it will continue working hard to improve the Netflix experience on TVs.
