Google has not given up on its Glass project and is currently working on a new version that is said to be an offshoot of the original Explorer Edition. According to reports the new version is called Google Glass Enterprise Edition and it’s being developed by Tony Fadell and his team. Some new details about this device has emerged today.
Google Glass Enterprise Edition is said to be foldable like a pair of conventional glasses which will certainly make them much more easier to carry around. A “robust hinge” allows the right side to fold down despite housing all of the complicated internals, the left side falls down similarly.
It’s claimed to be more durable and even water resistant, with Google aiming to make it strong enough to withstand bumps and drops that it might experience during normal use.
Moreover it would ensure that the product is fit for use in locations like warehouses, factories and other work environments where people don’t necessarily have the time or patience to treat a wearable device with extraordinary care.
Hardware improvements mentioned in the report include a larger prism for a fuller viewing experience of the interface, performance gains courtesy a new Intel Atom processor and a significantly larger battery as opposed to the predecessor.
Google has not yet said when the new version of Glass is going to be released and whether or not it will be offered to average consumers as well.
