Microsoft has been increasingly focusing on developing apps and services for rival platforms and the Arrow Launcher is one such app that it has released rather quietly for Android devices. As the name suggests it’s a launcher for Android which provides users with a different and personalized experience on their devices. The launcher is currently in beta stage so there’s work to be done before it’s released to the public.

Third party launchers for Android devices change the entire home screen and app drawer experience, that’s precisely what Arrow does. It even replaces the stock app icons for Phone and Messages which launchers usually don’t modify.

Arrow’s main screen is divided into three sections with a row on top for recent apps, then a larger area in the middle for frequently used apps and at the bottom a row for quick access apps selected by the user. Users can swipe up from the bottom row to bring up more apps, folders and recent contacts.

Swiping right brings up a running to-do list which is a handy feature as it also offers the ability to add scheduled reminders. The beta doesn’t offer the ability to add more pages right now but it’s quite likely that the feature will be added in a later build.

Microsoft’s Arrow Launcher is in beta right now so the only way to join in right now is by testing your luck with the app’s Google+ testing community, however they’re not actively recruiting beta testers from the outside just yet. It’s unclear when Microsoft will release Arrow Launcher for the public.
