With the Metal Gear Solid receiving so much love from fans over the years, safe to say that many are looking forward to the next title – Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. The game is expected to be released in the next month and a half, and it certainly looks like the game could very well be Hideo Kojima’s last, at least with Konami.
Spotted by the users on the NeoGAF forums, it has been noted that in the box art for the upcoming game, any mention of Hideo Kojima or his logo has since been removed as you can see in the images above. The game no longer says that this is a Hideo Kojima game, and the logo for Kojima Productions have also been removed.
This doesn’t really come as a surprise given that we have heard reports that Kojima is apparently set to leave the company. Oddly enough to date, neither Kojima nor Konami have explicitly stated that this is the case. Instead Konami’s statements are claiming that they are shifting their production structure.
Kojima on the other hand promised to continue support Metal Gear Solid 5, without stating if there would be future Metal Gear Solid titles from him. The cancellation of Silent Hills is also an implied confirmation that Kojima will no longer be working with Konami. In any case if anything we suppose this could be Kojima’s swan song so perhaps it will be worth checking out.
