Remember how there was an alleged front panel from the Lumia 1030 which was leaked the day before? That was apparently a red herring, despite what looked like the words “Lumia 1030” written with a Sharpie on the front panel. Also known as the McLaren by its codename, there were high hopes for the Lumia 1030 – but unfortunately, if you have always looked forward to this particular device, it is not going to happen – at least according to Evan Blass, the famed leaker who goes by the handle @evleaks over Twitter.
Evan Blass himself has shared that the “McLaren is dead”, and “Microsoft is finished with the x30 generation.” In layman’s terms, the x30 series from Microsoft, namely the Lumia 630, Lumia 730 and Lumia 930, are the last of their kind, and there will be no more obvious and direct successors, although who are we to rule out spiritual successors in the future? After all, this is what has happened in the past with other hardware before, and it does not look as though it is going to stop this time around.
Microsoft has also confirmed that it will introduce a Windows 10-based flagship device down the road later this year, and with this word from Blass, it seems that the Lumia 1030 is ruled out.
