Many people are terrified of flying and they’re not reassured by the infamous saying that you’re more likely to die in a car crash on the way to the airport than you are on the plane, and if you happen to be one of those people, then this video of a commercial Boeing 777 landing during a 75 MPH windstorm is not going to make things any easier for you.
The Netherlands had quite a storm a couple of days back, it was said to be the worst storm that the area has seen in some 100 years. Usually when weather conditions are so bad flights are cancelled to prevent any unfortunate accidents by this particular KLM flight had been given landing clearance at the Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam.
The video shows KLM’s Boeing 777-300ER on final approach and just as it’s about to touchdown the plane catches a gust of wind which leads to some very scary pitching and rolling.
Pilots extensively train for such environments which is probably why the pilots onboard this flight were able to safely land the plane despite the horrid weather conditions, though I can imagine that must not have felt good for the hundreds of people sitting inside the plane.
