Now according to a new rumor (via 9to5Mac), word has it that Apple could be getting rid of the 16GB storage. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard such rumors, although previously we have seen signs to suggest otherwise. The rumor claims to have gotten their information from their sources in Foxconn, but then again pretty much anyone can make such claims.
Assuming that this rumor is true, apparently Apple will replace the 16GB model with a 32GB model that will serve as the entry level, with 64GB being the middle model, and the 128GB model being the largest storage option. We can’t be sure if the rumors are true, but only last month Apple’s Phil Schiller defend Apple’s decision to make 16GB models.
This seemed to suggest that Apple might continue churning out 16GB models for the foreseeable future. Not to mention with Apple Music being a cloud-based streaming service and with iOS 9 being able to make room for updates without users have to delete apps manually, maybe 16GB might be more manageable now.
