Earlier this week photos of the iPhone 6S chassis was leaked, and now thanks to the folks at 9to5Mac, it seems that they have managed to get their hands on new photos. This time the photos are that of the innards of the iPhone 6S which you can see in the image above. Now upon first glance the component of the iPhone 6S appears to be identical to the iPhone 6.
However upon closer inspection, there appears to be some changes which is in line with the chassis photos which suggested that there could be a slight redesign in the internal components of the handset. According to 9to5Mac’s findings, one of the changes they noticed was an updated NFC chip.
It is unclear as to what changes the new NFC chip brings to the table, but it has been speculated that it could contain a secure element processor which reduces the need for a separate chip, thus further reducing the size of the logic board. However they have also noticed that in terms of storage, Apple will continue to offer a 16GB model.
Previously we had heard that Apple was considering upping the storage even more which led some to believe that this could mean that the 16GB model would be phased out in favor of 32GB, but if this photo is to be believed, that will not be the case. Then again Apple’s Phil Schiller defended the 16GB option which we suppose should have been taken as a sign that the 16GB model would be here to stay, at least for a while.
In any case since none of these photos can be proven to be the real-deal, even though 9to5Mac has had a pretty good track record with these sorts of things, it should be taken with a grain of salt for now, but we expect that an announcement will be made in the coming months so check back with us then for the details.
