This represented an 87% surge in handset sales revenue, which in turn the company is also boasting a 30% growth in overall revenue. The company is still aiming for 100 million smartphones by the end of the year, although we have to wonder if they are able to hit that figure given that they have yet to cross the halfway mark.
However at the same time, this puts Huawei in the running for the title of the world’s third largest phone maker. It should be noted that Lenovo has yet to turn in their own figures so there is a chance that Lenovo could steal the crown from Huawei, but as it stands things are looking good for the Chinese company.
The rise in Chinese companies such as Huawei, Lenovo, Xiaomi, and Oppo are pretty well-documented over the past few years. This is largely thanks to China’s booming economy where its citizens now have more disposable income for luxuries such as smartphones, and its massive population. At the same time, foreign companies such as Apple and Samsung have huge appeal as well which is something these companies will have to deal with.
