Now it looks like there has been a slight reversal. HSBC support for Apple Pay in the UK has been delayed. According to the bank’s representatives on Twitter, it looks like support has yet to be launched but they claim that it will be “launching soon”.No word on when that might be, but some are hoping for a possible launch in July.
In the meantime, Barclays themselves have announced on Twitter that they will be bringing their own support to Apple Pay in the future. Prior to this, the bank claimed that they were still in talks with Apple, but with this announcement we can only assume that a deal has since been inked and that support should be arriving soon, but once again there has been no solid date offered.
So far the banks supported by Apple Pay in the UK have been listed as the Bank of Scotland, First Direct, Halifax, HSBC, Lloyds Bank, M&S, and TSB, although it should be noted that HSBC’s support has been delayed, so if you’re a HSBC customer don’t fret if you can’t use Apple Pay just yet.
