According to Cue, “We are working to have Home Sharing in iOS 9.” iOS 9 is Apple’s upcoming major update to the iOS platform and is expected to be released in the fall of 2015, presumably alongside the new iPhones. As for Home Sharing, in case you’re not familiar with the feature, basically it allows users to set up their music and videos on a central computer which acts like a server.
From there, users will be able to take advantage of the Home Sharing feature to stream songs and videos stored on that computer onto their iOS devices as long as they are all connected to the same network. It sounds like a handy feature but we suppose with the launch of Apple Music and the iCloud Music Library, maybe Apple assumed everyone would turn to that feature instead.
However it should be noted that Home Sharing is still available for streaming video and that it is available on the Mac and Apple TV if you want to stream music through those platforms, just not mobile, but we suppose that will change in the next few months.
