If you haven’t done so already, you should update your World of Warcraft to patch 6.2 which was released last week. Along with the patch is the latest raid that Blizzard will be introducing to the game and that is the Hellfire Citadel. However it should also be noted that it seems that Hellfire Citadel will be the last raid for the expansion.
This was confirmed in a recently interview with Cory Stockton, the lead game designer for World of Warcraft which you can check out for yourself in the video above. According to Stockton, the raid is planned to be the last raid for the expansion and it is expected to wrap up the story, as far as Warlords of Draenor is concerned.
While Stockton does not rule out the possibility of additional content for Warlords of Draenor, Hellfire Citadel is expected to be the pinnacle of it all and will also largely depend on how players react to the raid and patch and how far and how long players progress. Now some players are naturally unhappy with how this has played out.
As highlighted by Stockton, previous World of Warcraft expansions have had anywhere between 3-4 major patches, but this one only had two. Assuming players are able to clear Hellfire Citadel fast enough, this means that eventually players will just end up re-running the raids until the next expansion, whenever that may be.
