However according to a new rumor from Reuters, it turns out that maybe the Galaxy Note 5 could still be on track for an early announcement, but instead of July, the rumors are now suggesting that it could be launched in August instead. This is according to people familiar with the matter who tipped off Reuters with the info.
When asked to comment, a Samsung spokeswoman declined. Given that Samsung had previously denied the rumors outright, the lack of a comment seems to suggest that there might be some truth to these claims. It is possible that Samsung might announce the phone but make a more formal unveiling at IFA which is when they usually show off new products.
It will also give Samsung a bit more time to create some buzz and hype around the device before Apple makes their announcement which is usually around September as well. According to HDC Asset Management fund manager Park Jung-hoon, “I don’t know how much the earlier launch will help boost the company’s average selling price for smartphones, but this suggests that Samsung will work hard to maintain its market share for the high-end market.”
