When Sony’s RX100-series of compact cameras were announced, they made waves. It’s odd given that no one really kicks up that much of a fuss over a compact camera, right? However what made the RX100-series so unique was the fact that Sony had somehow managed to squeeze a 1-inch sensor inside the camera’s body.
This allowed the compact to capture images with the quality that could potentially rival those of prosumer cameras. Now according to a report from Fuji Rumors, it seems that Fujifilm will not be taking this lying down and will reportedly respond in kind in the next three months. The publication has heard from an anonymous source that Fujifilm will be unveiling a camera with a 1-inch sensor soon.
The camera will be part of the company’s X-series lineup and will reportedly feature a fixed zoom lens as well, which basically sounds a bit like the Fujifilm X-S1 although it can’t be confirmed for now if the rumored camera will be that of the X-S2 or if it will be of an entirely different lineup.
In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but if the rumors are true we only have a few months before all is revealed, so be sure to check back with us later for the details. In the meantime how does the idea of a Fujifilm X-series camera with a 1-inch sensor sound to you?
