Last month Bethesda announced during E3 that they would be selling a special edition of Fallout 4 which would come with a Pip-Boy wearable. However this wearable is more of a holster for your smartphone as opposed to what the actual Pip-Boy might be like in real-life, which is what Redditor TheMCV has done.
According to his post on Reddit, he has made himself a real-life Pip-Boy and from what we can tell, it looks pretty damn awesome, which you can check out for yourself in the video above. So how did he make it? Well for starters the cast itself was 3D printed and the actual hardware of the Pip-Boy is a Raspberry Pi computer, making it small enough to fit on the wrist.
However the only difference between his version and the version in the game is that his version does not have a touchscreen display. Instead in order to interact with his device, you will need a keyboard which we suppose in some way does play nicely with the Fallout universe’s settings. TheMCV was also kind enough to include instructions and links to the software and blueprints you need in order to make it for yourself, so if you’re inclined and you’re looking for a DIY project, this might be worth checking out.
