The email reads, “We have just discovered that the Epic Games forums located at https://forums.epicgames.com were compromised by a hacker. We are sorry to report that the incident may have resulted in unauthorized access to your username, email address, password, and the date of birth you provided at registration.”
Thankfully for the most part, the forums don’t contain information that might be too sensitive, such as credit card details and social security numbers. However if you have put personal information such as your date of birth, email addresses, home addresses, or even your personal contact information like your phone number, then this information could potentially have been stolen.
Epic Games is currently conducting an investigation to determine how the hacker got through and if any personal information could have been stolen, although they note that it is a possibility. The forums have been taken offline so until Epic Games has it sorted out, you won’t be able to access it.
