The developer has recently announced a real-life Aegis of Champions which gamers will be able to receive if their Compendium level were to reach 1,000 or higher. According to Valve, “The Collector’s Aegis is a 1/5th scale alloy replica, with antique brass plating, of the winner’s trophy at The International. Inscribed on the back with the year and a gold finished insignia signifying this year’s theme, the Collector’s Aegis is a symbol to reward those whose Compendium Level has reached 1000.”
This reward will be sent to players at the conclusion of The International which will take place next month. As an added in-game perk, Valve also announced that the Aegis of Champions in the player’s fountain in the game will have a special glow effect that will remain there until the next International tournament.
The question is, how much would you have to spend in order to get to level 1,000? Well it has been estimated to cost a little over $400 which is a lot of money. However we guess this would be a rare collector’s edition that would probably not be made again, so depending on your level of fandom, $400 might not be such a bad price.
