Dell Latitude 12 Rugged Tablet Launched

Tablets are designed for all sorts of uses. Some, like the iPad, are designed for the regular consumer who needs a tablet for surfing, watching videos, playing games, and maybe some productivity. Then you have tablets designed for kids where they’re brightly colored, durable, and come with kids software preinstalled.

Then you have tablets like the recently announced Dell Latitude 12 which was designed for users who might frequent harsh environments, which according to Dell has been “designed for performance and reliability in the harshest conditions.” If you think that describes your job or if you know someone who has such a job, then perhaps the Dell Latitude 12 might be for you/them.

The tablet will feature an 11.6-inch display with a resolution of 1366×768. It has been designed to be readable even in bright sunlight, and will be able to withstand all sorts of spills, mud, dirt, dust, sand, and even drops. It will also be able to withstand extreme temperatures ranging from -20 up to 145 degrees Fahrenheit.

Under the hood, the Dell Latitude 12 will be powered by a 5th-gen Intel Core CPU with Windows 8.1 running the show. Dell is also boasting a 12-hour battery life and 512GB of solid-state storage, so safe to say it will not come cheap, although Dell has not mentioned how much it will cost yet.
