A few months ago, it was officially confirmed that Silent Hills would be cancelled. The was being made by Hideo Kojima and director Guillermo del Toro, but unfortunately due to conflict with Konami, the project was ultimately shelved. However based on what we’ve seen so far, both Kojima and del Toro did a pretty good job.
Now if you were hoping to see the duo work together on future projects, you’re in luck because that’s exactly what’s happening. Speaking in an interview with IGN, del Toro confirmed that he is currently working on a project with Kojima, but was quick to point out that it would not be Silent Hills or some kind of spiritual successor.
According to del Toro, “I love working with Kojima-san. We are still in touch. We are still friends and working into doing something together, but that’s not going to be [Silent Hills].” Del Toro also shared this thoughts on the cancellation of the game, claiming that it was a shame as they were planning on pushing the boundaries with it.
“We were in the planning stages, and it’s a shame it’s not going to happen We were talking about really pushing the boundaries of the new consoles, and making the game really mess with your head,” del Toro said. In any case chances are it might be a while before we see anything concrete, but it’s good to know that something is in the works at the very least.
