That being said, it looks like Casio is set to follow some of their fellow watchmakers by entering into the smartwatch market. This is according to a report from The Wall Street Journal who claims that the Japanese company is preparing such a wearable. So what will Casio do to set themselves apart from the competition?
Apparently it will be how they approach the device. According to the company, this will be done by trying to create a watch that is smart, versus a smart device that can also double up as a watch, which we suppose is the fundamental difference. Kazuhiro Kashio, the new president at Casio, was quoted as saying, “We are trying to bring our smartwatch to a level of watch perfection: a device that won’t break easily, is simple to put on and feels good to wear.”
As for pricing, it has yet to be determined but according to Kashio, he plans on making it affordable, similar to the Apple Watch which is actually considered by many to be expensive, at least compared to the competition out there. No word on when Casio’s smartwatch will debut, but it should be worth keeping an eye out for given the company’s history and reputation.
