BlackBerry Teams Up With Google To Bolster Android In Business

BlackBerry announced a new partnership with Google that aims to bolster Android in business, the enterprise-focused partnership will see BlackBerry’s BES12 device deployment service with some of the new security features that come as part and parcel of Android 5.0 Lollipop, thus allowing Android devices to provide better device management, increased security and improved enterprise apps to businesses.

The two companies have worked together in the past as well since BES12 already does support Lollipop and provides features like global support, end-to-end encryption as well as the option to put certain assets on a corporate device under a proverbial lock and key.

As part of this recent partnership new features will be available through Android and BES12 and allow organizations to further secure enterprise and personal data on Android devices, set new levels of hardware based encryption as well as allow for tight integration with Google Play for Work for better app management.

This announcement comes at an interesting time when it’s consistently being rumored that BlackBerry is working on an Android powered smartphone, it’s first, and some evidence has surfaced recently which points to the possibility of this actually happening.

BlackBerry has not addressed the Android device rumors as yet, the company’s CEO did say in an interview that he would consider making an Android device if he could make it secure enough.
