We have been hearing rumors of where they might end up, with some speculating that they would make their way onto Netflix, while others speculated that they would end up on Sky or iTV. However it looks like all the speculators were wrong because according to a recent tweet by Clarkson himself, it looks like Amazon Instant Video will be their new home.
This is admittedly quite a surprise since many probably expected Amazon to be the last place they would end up. Speaking to the London Evening Standard regarding the deal, Clarkson was quoted as saying, “I feel like I’ve climbed out of a bi-plane and into a spaceship.” The new show will be an online-only experience.
It is expected to air next year and will be produced by none other than Andy Wilman, the former Top Gear executive who was credited for revamping the format and making it into the success that it is today. No word on how much this deal has cost Amazon, but an insider apparently said it was a significant investment.
