Google has never really teamed up with a Chinese manufacturer for its Nexus mobile devices, but as they say, there’s a first time for everything. Already there have been multiple reports claiming that it might tap Huawei to manufacture the next Nexus smartphone. There’s yet another report today, and this one from a reputable scribe, which hears from a person involved with the project that Huawei is indeed going to release a Nexus phone later this year.
Not much is known about the Huawei-made Nexus smartphone at this point in time. Multiple reports from Chinese analysts state that this is going to happen, with one even saying that the Huawei Nexus phone is going to be powered by the Snapdragon 810 processor and it will have a 5.7 inch Quad HD display.
Today’s report comes from The Information which has heard from a person that’s involved with this project. The scribe doesn’t mention any actual details of the handset, only that Huawei is building it, and that it will be out later this year.
Obviously it goes without saying that there will be countless rumors and leaks before this handset is due to arrive. So far Google has not confirmed if it really is working with China-based Huawei on the next Nexus smartphone.
This could end up to be a good deal for Huawei that’s already trying to break into the U.S. smartphone market, a partnership with Google on a Nexus device provides a good launching pad for Huawei in the country.
