Xiaomi is a company that seems to compete purely on price alone. They make handsets that are extremely affordable, thus allowing them to appeal to emerging markets which in turn has given them the volume needed to catchup to the likes of Apple and Samsung. This strategy has worked with their wearables which has managed to catapult the company into second place.
Considering Xiaomi hasn’t been in the wearables game for long, this is impressive. The company’s Mi Band is to thank as it is priced at a very low price of $13, making it a very compelling purchase when compared to other fitness bands and smartwatches. So how many Mi Bands has the company shipped to date? Well according to Xiaomi, it turns out that they have managed to ship over 6 million Mi Bands to date.
That’s a very impressive figure because like we said, Xiaomi is relatively new to the wearables scene. The Mi Band was launched late last year and given that it has been less than a year, it sounds very promising. Granted it probably isn’t the most stylish of wearables but it comes with the basic functions that one might need, such as workout tracking, sleep tracking, and an impressive 30-day battery life.
There is word that the company is planning a sequel to the Mi Band, which we can only assume will be an improvement with added features and will also most likely come with a competitive price tag as well.
