According to a post on the official Xbox website, “Fifty years ago Ford made history at Le Mans with a series of victories that came to define an era, including the first win by an American driver and engine (1965), and one year later, the first overall win by an American constructor. These one-of-a-kind controllers, built by the Xbox Hardware team model shop, are inspired by the Ford-powered cars of its namesake year.”
For those who might be at the Le Mans event, these controllers will be displayed at the Ford stand throughout the event. However for those who aren’t in France, rest assured as you will be able to check them out for yourself next week during E3 2015. The controllers have been designed in the theme of some of the more iconic Ford cars in the past.
This includes the Shelby Daytona Coupe from 1965, the Ford GT40 from 1966, and 1967 where drivers Dan Gurney and AJ Foyt break through the 5,000 km mark for the first time. It is unclear if they have been created just for show or if Microsoft will start to sell them at some point in time, but boy do they look good!
