So have you ever wondered what the game looked like back in the day? Well thanks to Blizzard employee Dave Wilson shared some of the game’s early screenshots on his Twitter which was later compiled on Storify by Pike. Moving on, one of the screenshots Wilson shared showed how World of Warcraft started out using the Warcraft 3 engine, which you can see in the image above.
The game itself was very sparse and empty and extremely basic, but we suppose given that it was early on into development, that is to be expected. Later screenshots showed characters inside a town. It also showed off how the UI of the game looked early on along with some ideas for character models, which safe to say many are probably thankful did not make the final cut.
Wilson also revealed that the extremely classic Molten Core raid was planned to be cut from the launch of the game, but thankfully the game’s designers saved it by completing it within a week. All of this is rather nostalgic and if you’re a fan of the game, you can probably appreciate how much the game has grown since its first inception.
