The company has recently released their desktop app that now has English support. This means that if you were unclear on how to navigate the app before, you should have no issues with it now. The app has also received an update and will now feature a screenshot tool that lets you capture screenshots and send them to contacts directly.
The app also has a feature where you can grab the attention of a particular user in group chat by mentioning their name. There is also a message recall feature that lets you “unsend” a message. The English supported app is unfortunately only available for Windows users at the moment. The OS X version has not been updated since November last year but hopefully we will see an update for that soon.
In the meantime by creating a desktop app for its users, WeChat now has an advantage over some of its competition, namely WhatsApp whose web chat is only available for Android, BlackBerry, and Windows Phone devices for now. In the meantime Skype has also launched a web chat, effectively putting them on your desktop, mobile, and browser all at once.
