There are hall of fames for everything, like rock music, sports players, food, so why not video games, right? Well if you’re wondering what kind of titles would make the cut as far as video games are concerned, The Strong’s World Video Game Hall of Fame has recently announced its first six inductees.
If you’ve been playing video games for a while, chances are you won’t be surprised at some of the titles. For starters you have extremely classic titles such as Tetris, a game that is still being enjoyed up to this very day. You also have Pong and Pac-Man as far as arcade classics are concerned.
As for more “modern” titles, Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros. made the cut, which we suppose isn’t really surprising, along with Doom which was one of the first FPS games that helped make the genre so popular. As for the most recent game that made the cut is none other than Blizzard’s World of Warcraft which is probably the most popular MMORPG in modern times, although we think that maybe Utopia or Everquest would have been just as good.
These six titles were selected from a batch of 15 finalists, some of which we have to admit surprised us that it did not make the cut, such as Space Invaders, Sonic the Hedgehog, The Legend of Zelda, or Pokemon. That being said there were other modern titles in the list such as Angry Birds and Minecraft.
