That being said Valve can’t possibly account for every single person out there, right? Well in a recent report from ArsTechnica, that is something the company is aiming for. According to developer Owlchemy who is developing games for the HTC Vive headset, they believe that a properly designed game is the key to having zero motion sickness.
According to Owlchemy Labs founder Alex Schwartz, “Valve doesn’t like to make crazy claims. They like their developers to make those claims and nod their heads in the background. But I’ve said, properly designed games in the Vive will get zero percent of the populace sick. Zero. That’s an amazing technical feat.”
To help with this process, it seems that Valve will require motion controllers to be standard and required with the HTC Vive, versus the recently announced consumer version of the Oculus Rift where the Oculus Touch controls are optional. Of course whether or not the HTC Vive will live up to Valve’s claims remains to be seen, but if you’re someone who suffers from motion sickness especially when playing FPS games, this could be good news for you.
