Valve Unveils DotA 2 Reborn, Gives The Game A Makeover
When it comes to MOBAs like DotA 2, League of Legends, or Heroes of the Storm, having the most realistic graphics isn’t really necessary. As long as it looks good, plays smoothly, and is balanced, that’s usually good enough. However Valve is taking things to the next level with DotA 2 Reborn, which is the company’s efforts at giving the game a makeover.
According to Valve, “Today we are announcing the Dota 2 Reborn beta, which brings with it a new interface, new engine, and Custom Games. Everything in the dashboard has been redesigned utilizing a new UI framework and the engine that powers the game has been fully replaced.” These are some pretty major changes which hopefully fans of the game will be able to appreciate.
For starters one of the changes that Valve has highlighted is a revamped dashboard which they have designed to be more intuitive and easier to use. For example the Play DotA button will now be available no matter where you are in the interface, thus letting gamers launch new games whenever they want without having to exit multiple menus.
They have also introduced new tools to help partying up with friends easier as well as communicating with them thanks to the party voice chat which will be available via the dashboard. The feature will be carried over even while the game is loading. There will also be a better way of tracking the progress of your friends, improved chat, a redesigned hero browser, and much more.
Valve has also introduced a new tutorial system that will help make the game easier for newbies to get into. “Many of you told us that while our existing tutorials were good for teaching Dota’s mechanics, they weren’t great at helping new players understand why Dota is awesome. So we’ve built a new system of Guided Bot Matches, which allows a new player to jump right in and experience a full Dota game, all the while receiving guidance from an AI director.”
This is just part 1 of 3 that Valve will be showcasing DotA 2 Reborn, so check back with us next week for more info. In the meantime you can hit up Valve’s website to get a detailed idea of what to expect.
