Apple has worked many times in the past with Charitybuzz to raise money for different non-profit causes, CEO Tim Cook has even auctioned off a meeting at the company’s HQ for this purpose. This time around Apple is offering a tour of its secretive headquarters in Cupertino, California to the highest bidder in a new charity auction also arranged through Charitybuzz. The winner will be allowed to bring one guest along for the tour, or if it’s a family visit, up to three children.
Apple’s vice president of education John Couch is donating the tour and he will lead it. Couch was asked by Steve Jobs to join the company back in 1978 as Director of New Products. He has been very successful in driving Apple’s growth in the education sector, he has grown Apple’s education business to $9 billion.
Since it’s Apple, the tour isn’t going to be valued where you might expect it to be. Charitybuzz and Apple list the estimated value of this tour at $50,000 though it won’t be surprising at all if the winning bid ends up being significantly higher than this goal.
All proceeds from this fundraising campaign will be donated to the Giant Steps Therapeutic Equestrian Center which is a therapeutic horse riding facility based in Petaluma, California.
The charity auction is being run for two weeks and it will close at 3 pm EDT on June 18th. Go here to place your bid.
