Tesla just sent out a press release to commemorate a major milestone for its Tesla S electric car, it turns out that Tesla S drivers have driven more than one billion miles across the globe. To celebrate this achievement the company has set up a new landing page which basically shows what these one billion miles are equal to, such as a 2,000 year roadtrip or 4,186 trips to the moon.

The company is also quick to point out some facts which are also some of its biggest selling points such as conversation of the environment, it says that during these one billion miles more than 570,000 tons of CO2 emissions were prevented which is equal to 10 years of pumping gas.

Elon Musk’s outfit may have hit the market with the Tesla Roadster but the Tesla S is undoubtedly its most well performing and most recognizable fully electric car. The company has already seen its best ever quarter in Q1 2015 with 10,030 cars being sold, registering a 55 percent increase year-over-year.

It’s not in a habit of disclosing monthly sales figures for its cars but Tesla is believed to have sold around 75,000 units of the Tesla S ever since this particular model was put on sale back in 2012.

Tesla isn’t slowing down, the company is currently working to get the Model X ready, which is the company’s first SUV that many of its fans are looking forward to.
