Sony has gradually been rolling out Lollipop to all of its supported devices, only recently it sent out the software to devices like the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR and the Xperia Tablet Z. The roll out process for those devices has begun and the update will soon go live in more markets across the globe. The next step is to upgrade these devices, and some others, to Android 5.1 and Sony today revealed when it intends to do that.
Lollipop has already been rolled out for the aforementioned devices and the software is now arriving on the Xperia Z, Xperia Z1, Z2 and Z3 as well. These devices will be receiving Android 5.1 Lollipop as well.
The company has confirmed today that it’s going to upgrade all of these devices to Android 5.1 as well as the Xperia T2 Ultra and the Xperia C3 to Android 5.1 starting next month.
Sony says that it has also received a “fevered raft of feedback” and requests to extend Lollipop to other products in its portfolio, which is why it’s announcing that the Xperia M2 and Xperia M2 Aqua will jump straight to Android 5.1.
As always, the timing and availability of Android 5.1 for these devices will depend upon market and carrier, not everybody is going to receive Android 5.1 at the same time, but at least they now know that Android 5.1 will be released for their device.
