You guys might remember that last year, Sony Pictures was hacked and along with the hack, a ton of private and very telling emails were released. The hack was supposedly about stopping The Interview movie from being released and for a while it looked like Sony was going to comply, only to have it released anyway.
That being said if the reports are to be believed, the 2014 Sony Pictures hack could very well be made into its own movie. This is according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter who has heard that such a movie could be in the works. In fact the rumors claim that it will be made by Jehane Noujaim and Karim Amer, the duo behind The Square documentary on Netflix.
The movie will supposedly explore how the hacks came about. At this point in time it is unclear as to who are behind the hacks. There are multiple theories involved, one of which suggests that North Korea could have been involved, while others suggest that it could have been an insider job, although the hacks at that time were claimed to have been done by a group called the Guardians of Peace.
According to Amer, “The Sony story is an important chapter in this larger issue. The analysts and experts we speak to see it as the 9/11 of cyberattacks, and the implications will be felt for years to come.” Apart from taking a look at the Sony hacks, the documentary will also be exploring cyber security themes. In any case is this a documentary you might be interested in watching?
