Many of you guys might remember the Saygus V2 that was launched at CES earlier this year. The phone was supposed to be launched in the earlier part of the year but after numerous delays, customers who have pre-ordered the handset have yet to receive their orders. Now we’re not sure what Saygus is up to, but it seems that they have launched an Indiegogo campaign for the Saygus V SQUARED.
This is basically the same phone that was announced at CES with some minor changes, and oddly enough it seems that the project has managed to raise a little over $850,000 in a relatively short amount of time, leading some to speculate that the company has brought over its previous pre-orders and counted it towards the campaign’s funding.
Like we said the phone was originally planned for release earlier this year, but according to the campaign, it states that we can expect to get the phone this Fall, with testing beginning in August/September and assuming it all goes according to plan, it should begin shipping after that. The phone will retain the same specs except that it will now feature dual SIM capabilities and will be updated to Android 5.1 Lollipop.
Color us skeptical but given that the release has been delayed multiple times, we’re not 100% confident that Saygus will be able to meet their Fall deadline, but for the sake of everyone who has pre-ordered the handset and are out a few hundred bucks, hopefully they will deliver as promised this time around.
