A couple of days back at the Worldwide Developers Conference 2015 Apple finally unveiled OS X 10.11, or El Capitan as it likes to call the next major update for Macs. It demonstrated quite a few features of the new software during the keynote but some were obviously left out due to time constraints. One such feature that was not mentioned during the keynote is the ability of Safari in OS X 10.11 El Capitan to beam full screen videos to the Apple TV.
Previously users had to mirror their entire Safari window to the Apple TV just to watch the video, well that won’t be required any more.
Safari in OS X 10.11 El Capitan lets users send videos to the Apple TV so that they can be played on the big screen at their native resolution and original, full quality through the set-top box.
Apple has already provided this ability to mobile Safari on iOS so it’s nice to see that it’s bringing the same over for Mac users as well.
Also left out at the WWDC 2015 keynote are some developments related to the Force Touch trackpads in the latest MacBooks. Apple will allow developers to create custom actions which respond to how hard a user presses down on the Force Touch trackpad.
OS X 10.11 El Capitan will enter a public beta next month before it’s end user release later this year in the fall.
