It was just last week that we saw how OnePlus laid down an official teaser campaign to get folks interested in their upcoming flagship device. One can only say that it is being prepared to be released real soon, and surely it is well worth the effort to get all excited about it! Until the full reveal, however, the Chinese company will continue to reveal bits and pieces about the upcoming OnePlus 2, and they have started with the fact that it will feature a USB Type-C port.
Surely this will be music to the ears of many, especially when we now also know that a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset will accompany the device. OnePlus has mentioned that they would like to “lead the way in power connectivity”, which is why it decided to take up this step. USB Type-C happens to be the solitary port on the new 12″ MacBook, and it also sees action on this year’s Chromebook Pixel by Google, with a handful of other computer manufacturers taking up the USB Type-C torch, too.
Why USB Type-C? Well, the main novelty, if you can call it (although I would like to think it is more practical than novel) would be the fact that it is reversible, hence, it does not matter too much which particular side of the cable you plug it in, it will still go in. Not only that, it is also tiny enough to see action on handsets, so do expect more smartphones down the road to feature a similar connection.
