Earlier this week Oculus conducted an event in which it finally showed off the consumer version of the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset. It was also confirmed during the event that the headset is going to be released in the first quarter of next year. Many announcements related to the product and platform were made during the event, particularly with regards to applications and content, one thing potential customers should keep in mind is that they won’t find smutty apps in the VR headset’s app store.
Oculus, a company owned by Facebook, has already confirmed that it will launch and maintain its own app store for the Rift through which users will be able to download apps compatible with the VR headset.
As virtual reality headsets are increasingly becoming popular so is virtual reality porn. There are already multiple studios that are creating content for these devices, with ambitions to grow as the VR phenomenon takes off.
It won’t be getting any help from Oculus though. Oculus has confirmed that it will only distribute content through its app store that meet its terms of service, “which forbid pornographic content from being a part of the Oculus Store,” a company spokesperson confirmed to Business Insider.
That’s settles it then, those who are just interested in smutty content for their VR headset will have to look elsewhere. Oculus will have nothing to offer them.
