The same can be said for gaming devices like the Oculus Rift whose consumer version was announced earlier today. The concept is great, the device looks great, and it also left a very good impression on us during our hands-on with it, but given that it is new, there aren’t too many games that will be available for it at the start.
However this is something the company is looking to change. Oculus VR has announced that they are planning on investing as much as $10 million towards helping indie developers create more virtual reality games for the Oculus Rift. Hopefully this will get developers interested in creating games for what seems like it could be the new way we can experience games in the future.
It would undoubtedly give Oculus VR a leg up on the competition, such as Sony’s Project Morpheus which has yet to be released, although last we heard the company was aiming for a H1 2016 release. In the meantime Oculus VR has announced that pre-orders for the Rift headset will begin later this year with a release planned for Q1 2016.
